The mission of IEE is to translate the foundational theory and research of the Smart & Good High Schools report into replicable and user-friendly context-specific programming. The Power2Achieve™ programming seeks to positively impact the culture and competencies of excellence and ethics in different environments—school, home, work, sports, and others.
The Power2Achieve™ For Schools programming provides curricular materials and professional development designed to help schools enhance teaching and learning. In order to increase academic achievement, improve student retention, enhance college and workforce preparation, and reduce disciplinary problems, Power2Achieve programming teaches students essential academic and social competencies (such as goal-setting and communication) and related practical tools and strategies (such as the P2A Blueprint-4-Life, Goal Achievement Process, Effort-Attitude-Improvement Rubric, Two-Way Communication Guide, Stress Management Process, and Integrity-in-Action Checklist) in eight critical areas:
Through a focus on these eight areas, Power2Achieve programming seeks to build a positive and productive school culture that helps all students flourish.
How does Power2Achieve programming work?
2010-11 Unit & Competencies Table
P2A Foundations consists of topic-specific, research-based, intentional, and practical student learning units focused on essential competencies (e.g., collaboration, creative thinking, etc.) needed for success in school, work, and beyond. The units provide teaching resources and a comprehensive guide for instruction that can be flexibly integrated within the school's designated structure and allotted time. Schools select the desired number of Foundations units, determine their preferred delivery structure, class time, teachers who will deliver them, and the targeted audience.
P2A Toolkits are professional development workshops focused on flexible integration of Power2Achieve™ research, theories, tools, and strategies into classroom instruction. P2A Toolkits are designed to shape an intentional culture of excellence and ethics in the school among staff and students and to improve collegiality and trust. Schools select their specific P2A Toolkit topic(s), identify the targeted audience to be trained (i.e., specific departments, learning support staff, administrators and leadership teams, or whole school staff), and the process for ongoing support of implementation following the training.
